I am hoping in August to keep the momentum going from last month and read approximately two books per week. So I am going to be super ambitious and try to read at least eight books. I’m going to try to mix it up this month and include some upcoming releases, some older books and those that it is my aim to read by the end of the year.
The Hundredth Queen Series- By: Emily R. King
In honour of Emily being the inaugural author for my Featured Author of the Month series I have decided to read her entire series. Especially considering the final book comes out on August 14th! Aren’t those covers stunning? I will admit that I can be shallow and that a good cover always suckers me in. I’ve heard amazing things about the books in the series and I feel like it isn’t as popular or well known as it should be! I can’t wait to binge read all of these!

Children of Blood and Bone- By: Tomi Adeyemi
I am actually doing a buddy read of this over 4 weeks with a bunch of other people who belong to The Owlcrate Society Facebook Group. This will be the first buddy read that I have ever participated in and I’m really looking forward to it! I’ve also wanted to read this book for awhile, especially since it blew up online and I’ve only heard good things about it. As it is with every super hyped up book I am slightly afraid that it won’t live up to it. I’m really looking forward to talking about it too in the buddy read!

Blood Rose Rebellion- By: Rosalyn Eves
I’ve really been into binge reading books lately and it helps because I didn’t really realize how behind I was on so many series… I’ve had the first book in this series for a long time and when I didn’t immediately get to it, it ended up on the back burner. I figured it was about time to pick this one up again. Reading the synopsis again makes me so excited! I can’t wait to get to read about Hungary, a country that is on my bucket list in real life. And that tagline seems like it was meant for me: “In a world ruled by magic, she was born to break everything.” If you know me you know how clumsy I am and how much bad luck follows me and I break…… a lot of things.

Lost Crow Conspiracy- By: Rosalyn Eves
I won the second book for this series in a giveaway by the author. I adore this cover to start off with! The theme of silver for the first cover and gold for the second intrigues me. Also, I am so happy that now I can binge read both of the books right before the third come out. It looks like they contain everything that I would love in a series: magic, romance, action and danger. I think I might actually start my month off with these two that’s how much I am looking forward to them.

Illuminae- By: Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I know, i know. I sometimes feel like I am the only human left in the world that hasn’t read this book. This series has such a big following and so many people who adore it. I regret not buying the hardcover version because it is just so pretty. I don’t normally read a lot of science fiction books which is why I waited so long to pick it up. But I was really intrigued by the multimedia inside the book: comprised of emails, conversations, blacked out reports, etc. I think it would be really cool to read a book like that and this is the first book that I’ve really heard it done. So I’m hoping this is one of the few sci-fi series that I end up loving.

The Letting Go- By: Deborah Markus
I was kindly provided an ARC of this by the publisher. THIS SOUNDS SO AMAZING! I was so happy when I found a copy of this in the mail. Murders at boarding school always sound so deliciously creepy. And the fact that we don’t know if the main character is the killer or not is a mystery that I need to read and try to figure out. I have a feeling that I am just going to fly through this book!
