allthingschristine: Hi Wendy, I am so happy to have you here on my blog this month! How are you?
Wendy Higgins: I’m doing well! Thank you for having me!
AC: I’m going to start you off with a question that I ask all of the authors I talk to. When you read or write do you see pictures in your head? (I cannot and it is called aphantasia). Do you think this helps or hinders your writing process?
WH: I definitely envision the scene as I’m writing it, like a movie or show in my head. It helps me immensely, especially when it comes to getting the tiny details right.
AC: Congratulations on the upcoming release of Kiss Collector! Why don’t you explain what it is about.
WH: Thank you! Kiss Collector is my first YA contemporary romance. It’s a super fun, flirty, angsty, emotional teen story about a girl who’s facing drama in every aspect of her life: family, friends, school, and of course…boys. Her way of dealing with those issues is to get revenge on males by taking what she wants from them, and what she wants are kisses.
AC: What was the inspiration behind the book?
WH: Lots of things inspired this story. The friendships are very much like the ones I had in high school, and still have with those women. The teen years are such an ambiguous time, full of highs and lows, making mistakes and learning the ropes, trying to decide what to do with your future, and feeling immense pressure from every direction. I remember those feelings clearly.
AC: Are you working on your next project or are you going to take a break after Kiss Collector? Are there any genres you haven’t tried that you would like to?
WH: I’m currently working on an adult romance Greek Mythology called Soul in Darkness, which comes out February 12th, 2019. After that, I think I will take a little time off from writing to do editorial work for other authors. But if another book idea strikes me, I’ll run with it!
AC: Thank you Wendy for joining us today and talking with us. Make sure you preorder Kiss Collector if you haven’t already! It comes out on December 18, 2018.
Seventeen-year-old Zae Monroe is over relationships. Between getting cheated on by the only guy she’s ever loved and watching her parents’ marriage crumble, she decides to turn the tables and go after what she wants, and what she wants are kisses. Athletes, musicians, poets, bad boys—their lips are all on her agenda, and it’s time to collect.
Zae proposes a contest with her friends to see who can kiss the most boys during spring break. But what starts as a harmless competition leads to a downward spiral of drama. Zae is forced to face the reasons behind her boy angst and starts to wonder if she was wrong about the male race…or at least some of them.
While most seventeen-year-old American girls would refuse to let their parents marry them off to a stranger, Robyn Mason dreams of the mysterious McKale in Ireland, wondering how he’ll look and imagining his Irish accent. Prearranged bindings are common for magical families like her own, however when she travels to the whimsical Emerald Isle she discovers there’s more to her betrothal and McKale’s clan than she’d been led to believe.
What starts as an obligatory pairing between Robyn and McKale morphs over time into something they both need. But one giant obstacle stands in the way of their budding romance: a seductive and deadly Fae princess accustomed to getting what she wants—and what she wants is McKale as her plaything. Love, desire, and jealousies collide as Robyn’s family and McKale’s clan must work together to outsmart the powerful Faeries and preserve the only hope left for their ancient bloodlines.
Embrace the Forbidden
What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?
This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.
Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?
When a monstrous beast attacks in Eurona, desperate measures must be taken. The king sends a proclamation to the best and bravest hunters: whoever kills the creature will win the hand of his daughter Princess Aerity as a reward. The princess recognizes her duty but cannot bear the idea of marrying a stranger—she was meant to marry for love—until a brooding local hunter, Paxton Seabolt, catches her attention. And while there’s no denying the fiery chemistry between them, Princess Aerity feels that Paxton’s mysteriousness is foreboding, maybe even dangerous.
Paxton is not the marrying type. Nor does he care much for spoiled royals and their arcane laws. He is determined to keep his focus on the task at hand—ridding the kingdom of the beast—but the princess continues to surprise him, and the secrets he’s buried begin to surface against his wishes.
I would like to say a giant thank you to Wendy for agreeing to become my featured author this month! Wendy has written so many books in various genres that I guarantee anybody would be able to find something they want. Preorder The Kiss Collector if you haven’t already, this sounds like an amazing book and is one that I am going to read as soon as I can!
