Happy New Year everyone and welcome to my January Hopefuls 2022! I am going to make my hopefuls pretty ambitious for January to start the year off on a good note. Eight books is two per week, but I’ve got some smaller books and an audiobook in there so it should be manageable. I’m determined to read as many books as I can this year so I want to get a head start right at the beginning. So let’s jump right in to this hodgepodge of books!
Luminous | By: Mara Rutherford
I recently won this ARC in a Goodreads giveaway and wanted to make a point to read it at the beginning of this year. This book has an interesting take on magic, seeing as the King’s Head Warlock is draining people for their magic. Liora has to save her sister who has been taken, when she wasn’t even though her magic was discovered. This book seems like a much darker take on magic that I’ve read lately so I’m super excited to dive into it.

Glass Alliance Trilogy | By: Joanna Hathaway
This is my full series that I would like to read in January as part of my one series per month goal. I love almost everything I read in the summary of the first book. There is a forbidden lovers trope meets fantasy with the risk of war on the line. I love that our main protagonists are a princess and the son of a general on opposite sides of the war. I know this is setting me up for heartbreak though for when our princess finds out the truth, but I won’t let that stop me. There’s a bit of everything in this book: fantasy, romance, political intrigue, action and adventure, family drama and so much more! I cannot wait to binge read all three of the books in this series in one go.

File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents | By: Lemony Snicket
This is my smallest book on my list for the month, which means it is the first book I will tackle. I loved when I was younger all of the Series of Unfortunate Events books and so when I was this one for cheap I decided to pick it up. Murder mysteries, puzzles and solving stuff is super fun for me so I thought this would be a quick fun book to start off the month. I don’t know much about this book going in which is exactly how I want it. You know with Lemony Snicket shenanigans will ensue, so I am looking forward to a lovely time reading this book.

The Binding | By: Bridget Collins
This is the first of two e-books I am hoping to tackle in January. I have been in love with this book ever since I saw the beautiful ARCs that were released. The hardcovers turned out to be just as beautiful, but somehow I never managed to pick up a physical copy of this book. I saw awhile ago that the e-book was on sale for a few dollars and grabbed it.
This isn’t the first forgotten memories book I’ve seen but I love the idea of binding those memories into a book. I’m interested to know if people have access to their books after they erase their memories. Like if they want to remember or learn everything again, would they be able too? Those libraries of forgotten memories would be a good place for people to learn things as well so I can understand how they are tightly controlled. Overall, I am really looking forward to jumping into this book.

XOXO | By: Axie Oh
This is the second e-book I am attempting to read in my January hopefuls. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but I have been a long time fan of K-pop and k-dramas. My first ever drama was Boys over Flowers and first k-pop were Shinee and SS501 (does anyone still remember them?) Anyways, this book to me sounds like a k-drama in book form which I am absolutely here for! I am super excited to read this and I also think it is super cute that the title sounds like the authors name. Definitely a contender to be my first 5 star read of the year!

The Bridge Kingdom | By: Danielle L. Jensen
This is the first audiobook I want to listen to this year for my goal of fifteen. I got the entire audiobook trilogy on audible and decided to give it a shot. I’ve noticed the book community talking about this book quite a bit recently which definitely bumped it up the list and into this month’s hopefuls. Another forbidden lovers with political intrigue (you can see what’s been piquing my interest of late), I heard this book has a bit of *spice* though. I cannot wait to see the banter and the relationship grow between our King and princess and whether she chooses her love or her people.

So those are the books I’m hoping to read this month! How many books are you planning to read in January? Are you as ambitious as I am? Planning to take it easy and slowly make your way? I would love to hear what books everyone is going to read. If you would like to see all of the books I’ve reviewed in the past, you can find them here. I wish everyone a successful reading this month on your January hopefuls 2022!
